Where’s the nearest vet?

The closest veterinary service is Orchard House Veterinary Centres, with locations in Hexham, Stocksfield, and Bellingham—Bellingham being the most convenient, about a 20‑minute drive. They offer comprehensive small‑animal care and 24/7 emergency cover in the region.

Does pet-friendly include cats?

Absolutely. “Pet friendly” applies to cats as well as dogs, though most guests are dog owners. Just select the pet filter during booking, and feel free to bring your feline companion along too.

Is there somewhere for dogs to swim?

While dogs are not permitted to swim in Kielder Water itself, there are shallow areas along forest walks where they can paddle safely. Just keep an eye out for signage and follow any local guidance.

Can I let my dog off the lead around the site?

For everyone’s safety, dogs must be kept on a lead around the lodge park and communal areas. There are plenty of nearby trails where dogs can explore off-lead under control, and we’ve also created a dedicated dog agility space on site. This secure, purpose-built area is perfect for safe off-lead play, training, and burning off some extra energy.

How many dogs can I bring?

Most of our pet-friendly lodges are ideal for one or two well-behaved dogs. If you’d like to bring more, please get in touch with us before booking. While there’s no strict rule, we always aim to be accommodating; we ask that guests check with us in advance if they’re planning something out of the ordinary.

Is there an extra fee for dogs?

Yes, there is a small additional fee for bringing your dog, which is added during the booking stage. However, we also regularly run Pets Go Free deals, led by our partners at Hoseasons, so keep an eye out for those special offers when you book.

Do your pet-friendly lodges come with hot tubs?

Several of our pet-friendly holiday lodges include private hot tubs as standard, such as the Willow Premier Spa, Otterstone Spa and Hareshaw Spa View, to name a few. These are perfect for relaxing with your dog after a day of exploring Kielder.

Are all lodges pet-friendly?

Not all of our lodges are pet-friendly, but we offer a wide selection of dog-friendly lodges at Kielder Waterside. Look out for the pet icon or filter your search by “Pet Friendly” to find the right option for your stay.
